About myself
Well, I'm Michael Andries and I'm very into running and all that involves that. I prefer long distances even ultras, but from time to time also run short races. I'm running since 2006, after a "long" "carreer" as a amateur soccerplayer. I din't find it a challenge anymore an sought something else, I always dreamed about a marathon. So I decided to persue that dream and at the end of that year I achieved that goal. I ran the Kasterlee marathon, a very nice nature course near my home. In the beautiful landscape of the Belgian Kempen. I immediately was sold to long distance and nature courses. So since that year I came back every year ever since. Over time I graduately increased my performances, got better and stronger untill I thought it was time for new challenges. I wanted to run ultra-distances, races longer than the marathon on road or trail. Naturaly it was easyer to start on road. So I picked out the 6 hours of Stein as my debut. The preparation for that race I really enjoyed! Packing kilometers, running long lonely hours, living the landscapes and exploring my surroundings. It was a revelation to me, I had seen the light. This was what I was looking for, the ultimate runners high. Ultra running. Since then I achieved some minor perfomances and results, I don't want to brag about it. Now since my last race in Stein 2010 (6hours and 74,3km distance), people from the Belgian ultrarunning-team contacted me. They saw talent in me and wanted to help me get better. They involved me in their ABC-project and from there on this story begins. My journey in the world of ultrarunning.
